Mission Statement

The Mission Statement of the Gaston County Piedmont Area Wildlife Stewards is to pursue the conservation, preservation, and protection of our wildlife and their habitat and related activities; and to raise awareness and educate the public about these endeavors.

What we do in Gaston County and the NC Piedmont

Gaston County PAWS is dedicated to our community and wildlife education. We are a chapter of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation operating in Gaston County. We participate in wildlife habitat enhancement, eagle scout projects for the Boy Scouts of America, Hunters for the Hungry program through the North Carolina Wildlife Federation, Learning to Hunt programs with the North Carolina Wildlife Commission (Squirrel, Turkey and Deer), and youth day bringing the Gaston County youth outdoors.

About Us

Gaston County Piedmont Area Wildlife Stewards (Gaston County PAWS) was formed in the Fall of 2008 by a group of local sportsmen and outdoor enthusiasts with the goal of concentrating more of their conservation efforts in our area. We officially became a chapter of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation in 2009 , and are classified as a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation.

Per our Mission Statement, our goal is the conservation, preservation, and protection of our wildlife and their habitat though our projects, and to raise awareness and educate the public though our community outreach.

Through the dedication and hard work of our members, as well as the support of the communities that we serve, Gaston County PAWS was proud to receive the North Carolina Wildlife Federation 2011 Chapter of the Year award, and again in 2015.

Participation and membership in Gaston County PAWS is open to anyone interested in the conservation and protection of our area wildlife and their habitat, and we invite you to join Gaston County PAWS and the North Carolina Wildlife Federation.
