Community Outreach in Gaston County and the NC Piedmont
In order to raise awareness ands help educate the public of our mission, Gaston County PAWS is active in our community, and gives back where we can.
Hunters for the Hungry
Gaston County PAWS are proud to sponsor and support the efforts of the North Carolina Hunters for the Hungry, Inc. as part of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation’s statewide Harvested Deer Donation Program. Through this program, hunters can drop off harvested deer to be processed at no charge, to be used to help feed those in need in their community.
Gaston County PAWS is grateful to work with the Deer Shack to provide hunter-harvested venison to several of our local food banks and shelters. Other drop-off locations are available throughout the state. Please click the link to check the location for the current participating meat processors and collection sites, and we suggest that you call prior to visiting a location, as they may change.
Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden – Belmont, NC
Gaston County PAWS has partnered with the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden (DSBG) in an effort to further promote the goals of our organization. Our partnership includes participating in various events held at the DSBG, installation of Wood Duck and Bluebird nesting boxes in various locations on the grounds, and the installation of an Osprey nesting structure in Lake Wylie, along the shoreline of the Garden.
Scouting America Eagle Scout Candidate Projects
The cornerstone of a Scouting America Scout’s journey to attaining the rank of Eagle Scout is the Eagle Scout Project. A Eagle Scout Project must not only demonstrate leadership, detailed planning, carrying out and completing the work, but also must be beneficial to the community and its citizens.
Gaston County PAWS is proud to work with local Eagle Scout Candidates on conservation and habitat improvement related projects in our area, through donations, guidance, and assistance in all phases of the project.
